HybridX is a Swedish hybrid fitness race that combines strength and endurance across eight stations — or, as the organizers put it, what you do at the gym turned into a competition. The course is completed back-to-back for time: RowErg 1500m, Deadlift 25 reps, Reverse Lunges 50 reps, SkiErg 1500m, Seated Strict Shoulder Press 25 reps, HybridX Burpees 25 reps, BikeErg 5000m, and a 2500m Curve Run on a curved treadmill to finish.
A HybridX simulation is an event hosted by a local gym that replicates the HybridX race format in its own space. Simulations on RoxRace are not official HybridX events unless the organizer explicitly states otherwise.
Simulations are typically held across one day with athletes starting in heats. They're used to benchmark performance ahead of an official HybridX race, to practise pacing and transitions, or simply to compete in the format close to home.
Most simulations follow the official divisions: Singles Open and Pro for men and women, and Doubles (men, women, and mixed) in Open and Pro. Open is aimed at first-timers, Pro uses heavier loads for experienced athletes.
Athletes start in heats and work through all eight stations in a fixed order. Unlike formats with a run between every station, HybridX moves straight from one station to the next — three ergometers spread across the course, three strength stations with set reps and loads, burpees, and the Curve Run as the final push to the line.
In Doubles, two athletes race the course together as a team. Results are recorded per station and at the finish, so after the race you can compare splits across the field and see exactly where you gained or lost time.

Get comfortable on all three ergs. RowErg, SkiErg, and BikeErg make up a big share of the race, and pacing them well is the difference between a strong finish and a slow Curve Run. Learn your sustainable split on each machine and practise holding it while fatigued.
Train the strength stations under fatigue — deadlifts and strict shoulder presses feel very different after 1500m on the rower. Practise the transitions from erg to barbell or dumbbells and back again. And if you have access to a curved treadmill, use it: running on a self-powered curve takes more effort than a motorised belt, and it comes last when your legs are already heavy.
No. The Open division exists specifically for first-timers. If you train regularly and are comfortable on a rower, ski erg, and bike erg, you can finish a HybridX simulation.
Most simulations follow the official HybridX divisions: Singles Open and Pro, and Doubles in Open, Pro, and Mixed. The specific divisions vary by event — check the race page for the simulation you're interested in.
HYROX alternates eight 1km runs with eight stations. HybridX has no runs between stations — it moves directly through eight stations with three ergometers and three strength movements, finishing with a 2500m run on a curved treadmill.
No. Simulations are hosted by gyms using the HybridX format. Official HybridX races are held in arenas in Sweden. A simulation is a great way to prepare for one.
Shoes you're comfortable in for both lifting and running, a lifting belt if you use one, and your usual hydration and nutrition. The gym provides all station equipment.
Yes — most simulations offer Doubles, including a mixed division. Check the race page for how the work is split between partners at that event.
