Copying a Race

Duplicate an existing race to use as a starting point — carry over divisions, stages, payment settings, and more with a single wizard.

When to use Copy Race

Copy Race is ideal for recurring events — annual races, monthly simulations, or any event where the format stays the same but dates and registrations reset. Instead of rebuilding everything from scratch, duplicate a past race and adjust only what has changed.

Opening the wizard

Go to Races in your organization sidebar, open the … menu on the race you want to duplicate and choose Copy race. The wizard opens with three steps: Setup, Content and Review.

Step 1: Setup

The title is pre-filled as Copy of [original title] — change it to the new race's name (at least 3 characters). Optionally set dates — race start/end and registration open/close dates. All date fields are optional; you can leave them blank and set them later in race settings.

The wizard shows the source race's title, venue, city and race type so you can confirm you're copying the right event.

Step 2: Content

Choose what to carry over from the source race. All options are enabled by default except Coupons and Media & Branding.

Section What is copied On by default
Divisions Names, pricing, capacity, team settings Yes
Stages & Events Race structure and scoring configuration Yes
Payment & Tax settings Tax rate, payment mode, fee distribution Yes
Stripe account connection The connected Stripe account Yes
Coupons Discount codes (usage counts reset to zero) No
Media & Branding Banner image and gallery photos No

What is always copied

These are included regardless of your selections: race type, scoring mode, venue information and timezone, description, contact details, rulebook, terms and liability text, FAQ, the race's overall capacity, and whether the public live dashboard is enabled.

What is never copied

Registrations, heats, heat assignments, existing payments, and results are never copied — the new race always starts empty.

Registration options (required fields and team roster rules), volunteer sign-up, finisher photo settings and race page styling (accent colour, tagline, hero layout) are not copied either — review them in the new race before you open registration.

Step 3: Review

A summary lists the new race title, what is always included, what you have chosen to copy, and what will not be carried over. Click Copy race to create the race.

After copying, you are taken directly to the new race's dashboard where you can complete setup, set dates, and publish when ready.
