Registration Settings
Control which athlete information fields are required during registration — for both public sign-ups and host-added athletes.
What are registration settings?
Registration settings let you decide which additional fields athletes must fill in when registering for your race. By default all fields are optional — enable the ones you need.

Available required fields
| Field | What it controls |

| Estimated finish time | Athlete must enter a predicted finish time — hours and minutes on the public form, H:MM:SS when you register them yourself. Used for heat seeding. |
| Phone number | Athlete must provide a phone number |
| Emergency contact | Athlete must provide emergency contact name, relationship, and phone |
| Date of birth | Athlete must provide their date of birth |
| Gender | Athlete must select a gender |
Team registration
These settings only apply to team divisions. See Team Races for the full flow.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Require team member email | The captain must enter an email for every teammate they add. When off, teammates can be added by name only and their email filled in later. On by default. |
| Allow captain to add teammates later | The captain can tick "I will identify my teammate later" for any spot and complete the team afterwards from My registrations. Off by default. |
| Roster deadline | When captains should have completed their team, in your race's timezone. Shown to captains and in reminder emails; nothing is locked or cancelled after it. |
| Send roster reminders | Emails captains of incomplete teams 7 days before and the day before the roster deadline — or once, 3 days after registering, when no deadline is set. On by default. |
Heat selection
Choose how start times are assigned for this race:
- Organizer assigns start times after registration (default) — You place athletes into heats yourself after they register.
- Athletes choose their start time during registration — Athletes pick their own heat as part of signing up.

Where these settings apply
Required fields apply in these places:
- Public athlete registration — The field is shown as mandatory on the Enter contact info step. Athletes cannot continue to payment without filling it in.
- Host manual registration — When you use the "Register athlete" modal, the same validation runs. You cannot register the athlete without the required field.
- CSV import — Fields with per-row values in the CSV are used as-is; required field validation does not block import rows (CSV import is for bulk data entry and may not have all fields).
Tips
- Enable estimated time if you use the "by division order + estimated time" heat generation strategy — more data means better groupings.
- Enable emergency contact if your race has safety requirements or insurance obligations.
- Enable date of birth or gender if your divisions are age- or gender-gated and you need to verify eligibility.
